    While opening QuickBooks Company File, if the QuickBooks users are getting an error code -6000 -308, it means that the system where QuickBooks Software running is not up to date. Unable to open the company file is due to the un-updated version of QuickBooks. This type of error is mainly followed by 3 or 4 more digits which caused some missing update and it might say you are unable to open the company file. Multiple reasons like update incomplete, Insufficient permission on Company Files Folder or QBDatabase Server Manager is not running or due to firewall issues.

    In order to resolve this issue, please find below the steps:

    • Disable hosting from all the machine where QuickBooks is setup.
      1. If you are using multiuser setup, click on File menuUtility – click on Stop hosting Multi-User access
    • Remove spaces after or before from company file extension.
      1. Close QuickBooks – look for the Company File Folder where file is saved – Right click on the company file and Rename it
    • Try to open the file now.
    • QuickBooks users will need to update QuickBooks on a regular basis whenever it prompt.

    Good Morning!!

    The most common reason for this kind of issues in QuickBooks, if your system is get disconnected from the location where the QuickBooks Company File is located or your Company File has been deleted or moved from your system.

    Situation 1: When the QuickBooks Company Files saved locally on the same computer and you try to access it:

    • Close your QuickBooks and open file explorer.
    • Search for the file with an extension *.qbw
    • Once you get the files, please make a note of the file location and move on to the next step to open the file.
    • Open QuickBooks – Go to File menu – Select Open or restore company file
    • Please navigate to the file location and open the file.

    Situation 2: If your QuickBooks Company Files are on a network location and trying to open, please follow the steps below:

    • Try to look for your server computer under my computer.
    • Also try to ping the server computer to see if your computer is connected to the network.
    • Try to search for the Company Files over the network.
    • If you can’t find your Server Computer then most likely the computer is not connected to the network.

    QuickBooks might give you some error at times. The common error is QuickBooks Error PS033. It’s mainly caused when a file in CPS folder is corrupt due to which we are unable to download the latest payroll updates.

    Let me share some information’s on how to resolve a negative balance when you reconcile your bank account in QuickBooks.

    There are couple of reasons for a negative balance when you do a reconciliation in QuickBooks Desktop. Some of them are listed below:

    • If you are reconciling for the very first time in QuickBooks, either you have not entered a beginning balance initially or you might have entered an incorrect balance.
    • You might have accidentally voided, removed or edited the past reconciled transactions.
    • It could be a File Integrity Issue in QuickBooks Company File.

    To resolve these issues, please follow one of the below steps:

    • If you are reconciling for the very first time in QuickBooks, enter the beginning balance for the account OR if it is showing an amount other than zero than make sure you change it to the correct balance.
    • If the past reconciled transactions are been voided, removed or edited than view the discrepancy reconciled report.

    This report will tell you the transactions which were changed since last reconciled.

    1. Go to Reports menu – BankingReconciliation Discrepancy.
