QuickBooks says “The company file has been moved or deleted” whenever I try to open my Company File.
This morning when I tried to open my QuickBooks Company File, it returned with an error stating that the company file has been deleted or moved. Someone please help!
Hi Patricia,
Usually in this kind of cases company file might have been moved to a different location.
Check if you have used it (opened it) from a network or flash drive later or maybe someone has deleted the file or file has been moved by mistake.
In certain scenarios, we also get this kind of error while using network environment when the file is disconnected from the server. You might need to identify how is QuickBooks setup and where the file is normally located and try to reconnect to it. If still you, are not sure, then you might be requiring assistance from a qualified expert at QuickBooks Tech Support Number.
I would suggest you follow the path that is listed on QuickBooks screen where you see the name of the company file.
See if there are any files located there. Depending on the setup it will either lead you to the file or in some cases it might not let you open that particular location which means that the file has definitely be moved by someone else who also uses QuickBooks. And maybe the secondary user of QuickBooks has got a duplicate copy which might lead to loss of recently entered information.

Thank you, Debbie and Robert, for your suggestions, I really appreciate it. Now, let me explain what I have heard from the secondary user on QuickBooks since she is new to QuickBooks and doesn’t know much about locating the files and stuff like that. But she said that even she is getting the exact same message on her computer. Now, what do you think should I be doing? Is there something I can try differently to resolve this?
