RE: How to Fix QuickBooks Desktop Error Codes 1904 &1402
I have multiple computers on which I am trying to install QuickBooks but both have Error Codes 1904 & 1402 respectively, how do I resolve these?
QuickBooks is one of the most comprehensive accounting software. It is being used by many small to medium level organization to keep track of their daily accounting transactions. In other words, we can say that it is a dual entry system. Apart from this, we can do a lot with the help of this Accounting Software, for example, we can process the payroll for employees, Direct deposits, we can file the taxes directly using QuickBooks. In all, we can say that it is the Backbone for any organization, but what happens sometimes, when we are trying to install this software in our environment it gives us error code 1904 or 1402. This error says (“failed to register while installing QuickBooks.”) it occurs when you are trying to Install QuickBooks after upgrading your operating system. The administrator is the one who can perform all the task. Error 1904 that means there is something wrong with QuickBooks registration file. QuickBooks database server cannot read your license registration file. So, to fix this we need to enable built-in Administrator account and provide grant access to all the users.
- To enable built-in administrator account you need to run the command as administrator. From the windows search type in CMD then make a Right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
- In the run box type in net user administrator /active: yes
- Once you entered the command hit enter from the keyboard.
- Now you need to switch over to the Administrator account. So, that we can perform the permit modification.
- Go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files.
- Now you need to make a Right click on Common files then you need to go to the Properties.
- Once you click on that it will give you a new window to add users. So, here you need to select Edit after that enter user name that you want to allow grant access to the Installation directory files.
- Under Permission window, you need to make sure Modify, Read & execute Read and write options are checked.
- Once you see the check mark on all the boxes Click on Apply and then Ok.
