Can I change a sales receipt to an invoice?
I created a sales receipt for a customer and said they paid with a credit card, but no card was running. I then accepted payment using his credit card. I now show a credit for the customer. I need to convert the receipt to invoice so the credit is applied to the invoice.

This is not possible in the QuickBooks to convert a sale receipt into an invoice. But there is an alternate option to do the same task. You have to create an invoice after deleting or voiding that sales receipt. Then you would be able to APPLY CREDITS on an invoice.
You can perform the following steps to delete or void a Sales Receipt:
- Open the Sales Receipt.
- Click on Delete Icon available in the same screen.
- Now choose Delete or Void.
- Click on Yes to confirm the task.
Once you have successfully deleted or voided a sales receipt, now you have to create an invoice of the same date and information like item name, amount, quantity and etc.
You can perform the following steps to apply a credit on an invoice:
- Open an Invoice.
- Click on Apply Credits.
- Choose the Credit Item that you wish to apply on the particular invoice.
- Then click on OK to confirm payment.
