QuickBooks Desktop Error -6177, 0 while trying to open Company File

Whenever we are trying to open the QuickBooks Company File, it shows Error -6177,0. Can someone help me in resolving this issue?

This error usually occurs if the company file path is not found. There are several solutions for this issue and the first one may solve the issue however if you have to try all of them then please follow them in the order it is shown.

Fix QuickBooks Desktop Error -6177, 0

Solution 1: Update QuickBooks

Please ensure that your version of QuickBooks is updated to the latest updates. If you still experiencing the error, go for solution 2.

Solution 2: Use QuickBooks Connection Diagnostic Tool

After using the tool if you are able to use your company file then it fine if not then please proceed to solution 3.

Solution 3: Manually resolve Error -6177, 0

If QuickBooks Connection Diagnostic Tool does not fix your issue then please go for a manual fix, go to the computer/server where the company file is stored.

  1. Delete the Network Descriptor (*.ND) file (QuickBooks creates this file automatically):
  2. Configure the QuickBooks Database Manager.
  3. Check the company file access permissions in Windows.
  4. (Optional) If the full application is installed on the server.
  5. Switch hosting off and on.
  6. Open the company file through a local path.
