Error code: -6073, -99001 on Quickbooks 2018

I am using QuickBooks 2018 and whenever I am trying to open a file its giving me error message ” QuickBooks is unable to open this company file. It may have been opened by another user. You should ask that user to switch to multi-user mode so you can both use the company file at the same time.” Don’t know how to solve this problem. Someone help!

QuickBooks Error 6073 99001 usually occurs because of the following reasons:

  1. The company file is open on another workstation in Single User mode
  2. The folder where the file is located has read-only permissions
  3. The company file is being accessed remotely
  4. The file is being used by a backup application

You would need to check and make sure that the file is switched to Multi-User mode on the other workstation, and ensure that the folder has Read and Write permissions, in case you have any Data Backup application installed on your computer, make sure it is not backing up the file when you are trying to open it.
