Hello Gilbert, thank you for reaching out to our community regarding this issue. The QuickBooks error 6190 and 816 message usually pops up on your system when your company file is located on the network location and you were trying to access the file from the server and client model.
The following are the factors that cause the QuickBooks error 6190 and 816 error to occur:
The error might be caused due to a transaction log file in QuickBooks not matching with the actual data in the file. The log file is called the summary of transactions which are entered in the company file or automatically saved by QuickBooks. It is stored with the same name as the company file with the .tlg extension. You can’t link the TLG file to the main company data file. However, when the company file does not match with the linked transaction log file, that is when QuickBooks is plagued by the QuickBooks error 6190 and 816.
Another common reason that contributes towards the occurrence of this error is QuickBooks application failure. When you move the company file to a different computer without uploading the old transaction file, that is when you receive the QuickBooks error 6190 and 816
Another reason that causes this error to affect your system is when a different user is using the data files with Single User Mode in a multi user environment.
