QuickBooks is running slow
Hi! I have been a frequent user of QuickBooks throughout the years and have been using it without any hitches so far. However, the recent update seems to have really slowed down my software, and my system crashes from time to time for no apparent reason. Any tips?
Hi John!
Thanks for posting on our forum.
Sometimes when your software is incorrectly updated, compatibility issues do arise, depending on your version of Windows.
The first thing you must attempt is to back up your company files safely, and then proceeding to a full reinstall of QuickBooks, after which you can update back to the latest patch. This simple method sometimes just clicks.
If this doesn’t work out for you, you might have to identify the exact cause of your performance issue – this list covers most of the ways to find them.
-
- Verify your company file list by creating a backup file.
-
- Try opening a file through UNC instead of directly rooting through the mapped directory.
-
- Test your local network speed (only if applicable)
-
- Defragment all your local disks.
-
- Check your anti-virus software and configure it to work with QuickBooks.
-
- Make sure your company files aren’t corrupted.
Your company files have certain restrictions placed on them, which when exceeded causes the slow performance you are complaining about. Some of the above steps require extensive technical knowledge to pull off, so don’t worry if you don’t get it on the first go.
We are always here, either way!
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
