Can I convert my QuickBooks Enterprise file to QuickBooks Pro or Premier?

I was using QuickBooks Enterprise but I want to use QuickBooks Pro. Can you please help me to convert my file?

QuickBooks Enterprise does not have backward compatibility. It means that you cannot directly convert your QuickBooks Enterprise to QuickBooks Pro or Premier. You can directly convert your QuickBooks Pro or Premier file to QuickBooks Enterprise. In order to convert your enterprise file to pro or premier, you have to convert your enterprise file to online and then you can export company file to QuickBooks Pro or Premier.

The user can try to convert his enterprise file to online first. Following are the steps to convert the file:

    • Open your company file into QuickBooks Enterprise

 

    • Press F2 to show all product information

 

    • Press CLRT+B then CLRT+Q

 

    • The user can close the product information window

 

    • It will automatically pop up a screen asking for QuickBooks Online username and password.

 

    • Enter the username and password and accept all the term and condition

 

    • Then click on Submit

 

After submitting the request, QuickBooks will a few minutes to convert your company file online. You will get an email confirmation that your file to ready to use in QuickBooks online. Once your file has been moved to QuickBooks online, you can try to convert QuickBooks online file to QuickBooks Pro or Premier.

You can perform following steps to convert your QuickBooks Online file to QuickBooks Pro or Premier:

    • Open Internet Explorer with Admin rights and login to QuickBooks Online

 

    • Click on Gear Icon from the top-right corner and choose Export Data

 

    • Choose any reason to move your company file data and click on Continue

 

    • Select Get Started

 

    • Install the ActiveX if needed

 

    • After installing ActiveX, click on Continue.

 

    • Choose all data you want to export and click on Continue

 

    • Click on Continue again.

 

    • Enter the contact information and click on Continue

 

    • It will take a few minutes to convert all transactions, depends on file size. Now, in order to export data you have to perform the following steps:

 

    • Login to QuickBooks Online

 

    • Click on Gear Icon from the top-right corner and choose Export Data

 

    • Then select Get Started

 

    • Select on Continue to Download, Open QuickBooks Desktop with no company file open

 

    • Select Download

 

    • Click on Yes if you get any prompt. And click on Convert Now

 

    • It will ask you to save your company file location in local drive. Give a name of your company file and click on Save.

 

Click on Finished after the export completes.
