How do we class all expenses automatically in a particular account? Similarly the products and service are being classed automatically?

I have connected to PayPal App with QuickBooks and noticed that it automatically created an expense account for PayPal fees which is fine. However, I would like to have all charges to be  automatically classed as Fundraising that are appearing in the PayPal Fee Account. Now I don’t know if there is a better way to do this because when I try to edit an account from the Chart of Accounts it does not let me assign a class, the way you can in Products and Services.

Hey Katherine,

I would suggest that you should use the Bank Rules option and create a rule for such transactions.

Below are few steps to create expenses automatically in a particular account:

  • Go to Banking Tab from the navigation menu.
  • Click on New rule option
  • Enter a Name for the rule
  • Choose the right Account
  • Specify the Rule Conditions
  • Choose the Transaction Type
  • Click Save

If the above steps are not helpful, If you face any difficulty or issues in performing the above-provided steps, then you can speak to a QuickBooks Expert at QuickBooks ProAdvisor Support number 1-877-263-2742.
