What causes QuickBooks Error Code 61?

QuickBooks has been our accounting companion ever since the inception of our business. I had 4 bookkeepers in 10 years worked for me and all of them were exceptionally experienced. For the past couple of months come across QuickBooks Error 61 causing the balance sheet on accrual basis out of balance. Our CPA did company verify and rebuild as an automatic resolution of the problem and I did the magic. Unfortunately, ACCOUNT BALANCE “ERROR 61” occurs again and things seem to be messed up again. How do I permanently resolve this error? Thanks.

Greetings and thanks for post. I’ll be delighted help you resolve QuickBooks Error Code 61 today. The issues those may have caused the accrual basis balance sheet out of balance in QuickBooks:

CAUSES OF QUICKBOOKS ERROR 61       

    • Linking Issues with the past entered transaction.

 

    • Multi-Currency transactions might have issues.

 

    • The Company File rebuild couldn’t properly sort the transactions.

 

    • Issues with QuickBooks Transaction Log file (.TLG File)

 

    • QuickBooks company file is damaged.

 

HOW TO RESOLVE QUICKBOOKS ERROR 61

However, we can still try few things in order to fix QuickBooks Error 61 causing issues in the Balance Sheet. Let’s have a company file backup done first of all before doing the data damage troubleshooting in the company file.

    1. Update You QuickBooks to the Latest release ad open the company file.

 

    1. Re-sort lists in QuickBooks Manually.

 

    1. Verify QuickBooks Company File and take a screen shot of the errors reported if any.

 

    1. Rebuild QuickBooks Company file and see if the Errors 61 still persists.

 

    1. Open and refresh the balance sheet and check if that shows up in balance.

 

    1. Try to manually fix the issues reported in Verify report and rebuild the file again.
